Betty J. Wright

Betty J. Wright, 78, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015, at her daughter’s home. Born June 29, 1937 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Texie Pearl (Utter) Deems.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Uhrichsville, a 1955 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, and a longtime member of the Uhrichsville 11th St. Church of God where she was an active member of the congregation. She was a nurses’ assistant at Union Hospital for over 20 years before working as a caregiver for Steppingstone.

On July 29, 1955, Betty married John Cecil Wright, Sr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 46 years of marriage until his passing on June 11, 2001. They are survived by children, John (Melanie) Wright, Jr., Amy Wright, Kelly (Johnny) Welch, Chet Wright, and Jackie (Philip) Slack; grandchildren, Lacey (Cory) Kimble, Jarret (Ashley) Blair, Seth (Candice) Slack, Emily (Darwin) Teets, T.J. Wright, Sheridan Garabrandt, Rusty Welch, and Jordan Love; and great-grandchildren, Laden, Jaidan, John, Lexus, and Andan. Betty is also survived by her brother, Lonnie (Charlotte) Deems, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Audrey McCullough and Robert Deems, and three nephews.

Pastor Earl Miller will officiate an 11am funeral on Friday, October 30, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice and the 11th St. Church of God.
