Betty M. Wingrove

Betty M. Wingrove, 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born July 23, 1931 in Bellaire, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gale and Geneva (Bever) Davis. After her mother’s death, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, the Rev. Forrest and Inez Bever.

On December 16, 1960, Betty married Jack Elwood Wingrove with whom she enjoyed over 52 years of marriage until his passing on February 21, 2013. They are survived by daughters, Stephanie A. (William) Roberts of Hudson, Ohio and Kimberly A. (Larry) Shilling of Dublin, Ohio; granddaughters, Katherine Shilling of DeLand, Florida and Elizabeth Shilling of Dublin; and grandsons, Mark Roberts and Matthew Roberts of Hudson.

Betty was a 1949 graduate of Bellaire High School before attending West Liberty University to study business. She was a member of Alpha Pi Sigma’s Delta Chapter. A New Philadelphia resident since 1962, she was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church for many years. In retirement, Betty and Jack wintered in Oak Grove Village in Trenton, Florida for 17 years. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who devoted her life to her family.

Services, officiated by Pastor Mick Foster, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Linwood Cemetery in Blaine, Ohio. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
