Betty Eileen Sandry

April 12, 1920 — May 29, 2011

Betty Eileen Sandry, 91, a resident of Dennison, Ohio for many years who had most recently resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Uhrichsville for the past four years, was reunited at Heaven’s gate with her husband, Silvan, the love of her life, on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Her passing from this life to the next occured at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, Ohio, after a period of declining health. Born April 12, 1920 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late William and Wanda Pearl (Gatchell) Boughton. She was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1938.

On August 8, 1942, Betty married Silvan Joseph Sandry with whom she enjoyed over fifty years of marriage until his passing on March 29, 1993. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked at H.L. Green’s and The Smart Shop. A longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison, she was active in its Altar Society and Choir, as well as a number of area associations including the Altruist Club, Twin City A.A.R.P., Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens, Keeping in Touch Senior Citizens, and the Dover Eagles and V.F.W. Ladies’ Auxiliaries until her health prevented her.

Betty’s surviving family includes her daughter, Mrs. Dwane (Connie) Roberts of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Jason Roberts and his companion and her children, Christina Murphy, Lauryn and Wyatt, of Uhrichsville and Amber Roberts of Dennison; sister, Mrs. William (Lenora “Nodie”) Dudgeon of Deersville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas David Sandry; her aunt who raised her, Zella Scott; brothers, William A. Boughton and Charles Scott; and sisters, Irene Andreatta and Delia Beamer.

Services for Betty, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, prior to her service. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Crossroads Hospice, Immaculate Conception Church’s Cemetery Fund or the charity of their choice.
