Betty A. McCauley, 85, of Tuscarawas, O., passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Bowerston Pointe after a period of illness.

Born October 1, 1924 in Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Ernest Otto and Viola Elizabeth (Cole) DeVore.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County who had worked for several area bakeries including Quimby’s Bakery and Bill West Bakery in Uhrichsville before working at Buehler’s Bakery in New Philadelphia until her retirement. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed travel in her spare time. She was a longtime member at Dennison First Church of God.

On July 26, 1943, Betty married Birney L. McCauley who survives her. She is also survived by four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Dixie) Albaugh of Dennison, Mrs. Sandra Mills of Middleburg, Fla., Mrs. William (Judith) Williams of Port Washington, and Rebecca Menefee of New Philadelphia; three sons, James McCauley and his wife, Nancy, of Lexington, Ky., Birney J. McCauley and his wife, Peg, of Middleton, Wisc., and Kenneth McCauley and his wife, Caren, of New Philadephia; twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma J. Kohler, Marie K. West, and Mary Rhodes, and a son-in-law, Ralph Mills.

Services for Betty, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Betty’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Dennison First Church of God.
