Betty Mahaffey

Betty Jean Mahaffey, 67, of Dennison, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Born May 22, 1948 in Hazard, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Miller) Mullins.

On May 4, 1967, Betty married Ralph Thomas “Tom” Mahaffey who survives her. She is also survived by daughters, Desirrae Spinell and Dawna Fox; grandchildren, Bliss Miller, Dakota Fox, Cory Spinell, and Jade Terry; great-granddaughter, Tina Elder; brothers, Ray and Carl Mullins; sister, Donna Smart; her best friend since kindergarten, Veda Cassidy; and many dear extended family members, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Robert Tallmadge Mullins.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who devoted her life to her family. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and, for many years, her favorite pastime was playing video games, especially the Legend of Zelda. Above all else, Betty cherished the time that she spent with her family, and she will be lovingly remembered for all the ways that she blessed their lives with her love.

Services for Betty, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Port Washington-Salem Union Cemetery in Port Washington. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Friday in the funeral home.
