Betty Jean Evans

Betty Jean Evans, 77, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio, after a lengthy illness. Born March 8, 1934 in Port Washington, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late John Emmitt Wolf, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann (Pinchek) Wolf.

A lifelong resident of the area, Betty was a graduate of Gnadenhutten High School in the class of 1952. She retired from Tusco Display in 1997 after forty-five years of employment.

On June 25, 1971, Betty married Charles E. “Red” Evans and was looking forward to celebrating forty years of marriage with him this year. Her other surviving family includes a son, Ronald (Jan) Kail of Gnadenhutten; two daughters, Tammy (Terry) Doughty of Uhrichsville and Kimberly Mullins of Dover; grandchildren, Bradley (Jaimie) Kirkpatrick, Ronnie (companion, Michelle Beckett) Kirkpatrick, Anthony (companion, Shawna Hilliker) Davidson, and Tanner, Hunter and Rylie Mullins; great grandchildren, Brady, Brant, Brynna and Brityn Kirkpatrick; step-children, Terri (Jack) Evans Jones, Vicki (Mike) Ricker and Susan (Troy) McMillan; step-grandchildren, Casey, Cruz and Courtney McMillan, and Chad and Corey Ricker; a step-great-granddaughter, Allegra McMillan; siblings, Robert (Joan) Wolf, Rose Porter, Mary Jane (Rodney) Ault, John Wolf III and Lisa McMorrow; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who doted on her grandchildren and loved supporting them in all of their endeavors, including many ballgames when she proudly watched from the stands. She was also a racing fan.

Services for Betty, officiated by Pastor Dick Harvey, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
