Betty Jane Creager, 82, a former longtime resident of 1125 Gorley St., Uhrichsville, O. passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Born May 19, 1926 at Station 15 in Harrison Co., O., she was a daughter of the late James Alexander and Mary Kathryn (Baker) Copeland.

Married on September 25, 1946, Betty Jane was the devoted and loving wife of Daniel Cohen Creager with whom she enjoyed over fifty-six years of marriage until his passing on March 8, 2003. She dearly loved the time she spent with her family which includes her daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Dana J.) Barrett of Dennison and her son-in-law, Thomas D. Barrett with whom she was especially close, having spent many happy times with him. In her younger years before she had a family, Betty Jane had also worked at the Scio pottery for a time.

Betty Jane is survived by a brother, Ret. Col. Jack L. Copeland and his wife, Kathy, of Spearfish, S.D.; a sister, Norma Carroll of Powder Springs, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Betty L. Creager of Canton; and several nieces and nephews, as well. She will also be sadly missed by her dear granddoggies, TeBee, Sissie and Buffie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy A. Jinks; a nephew, William H. Jinks; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Services for Betty Jane, officiated by Pastor Dode Overton, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery beside her beloved husband.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Betty Jane’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center Activities Center.
