Betty Jane Creager

Betty Jane Creager, 80, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton after a 4-month illness. Born August 3, 1934 in Uhrichsville, she was a daughter of the late Harry Burwell and Ruth Jane (Hyde) Creager.

A resident of the Twin City area throughout her youth, Betty was a 1953 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. From 1960-1969, she proudly served her country in the United States Air Force, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Betty is survived by her sister, Ruthann Tulak of Uhrichsville; sister-in-law, Jean Creager of Gnadenhutten; nine nephews: Scott Morrison, Roy, Bill and Tom Blind, Chris Creager, Tim, Kelly and Lynn Shafer, and Robert Tulak; five nieces: Jane Ann Dorward, Linda Fox, Kathy McComb, Tina Creager, and Stephanie McCleary of Uhrichsville, who was like a daughter to Betty; and many great nephews and great nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry “Sonny”, Bob and Calvin Creager; four sisters: Dorothy Harris, Marguerite Shafer, Helen Morrison and Ethel Blind; 3 nephews: Jon Tulak, Michael Creager and Richard Harris; and a niece: Nancy Creager.

According to Betty’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation or service. She will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
