Betty Lou (Butler) Cunningham, 80, of Freeport, O., died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, O. with her family at her side.
She was born April 29, 1930 in Belmont Co. near St. Clairsville, O. to the late John Franklin and Lela Maude (Bennett) Butler.
Betty was a lifelong resident of the Freeport area and a longtime member of Freeport Presbyterian Church. She retired from NCR in Cambridge and was also an avid bingo player.
On April 14, 1948, Betty married James Ralph Cunningham with whom she enjoyed over thirty-five years of marriage until his passing on October 13, 1984. They are survived by six children, Shirley M. Peterson of Cadiz, Ronald J. (Natalie) Cunningham of New Philadelphia, Terry L. Cunningham of Tippecanoe, Bonnie M. Cunningham of Freeport, James A. (Robin) Cunningham, of Freeport, and Karen S. (Ed) Arnold of Uhrichsville; twelve grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Tedrick of Uhrichsville and Katherine Martinelli of New Philadelphia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings, John William Butler, Joseph E. Butler and Virginia Harriman.
Services for Betty, officiated by Rev. Jim McConnell, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Greenmont Cemetery at Freeport.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Betty’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
