Bessie Ann Barker

Bessie Ann Barker, 85, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Trinity Twin City Hospital in Dennison. Born June 10, 1926 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Allen and Bessie Ellen (Ohler) Quillen.

Bessie was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and attended Dennison schools in her youth. In 1946, she married James W. Barker with whom she enjoyed twenty-five years of marriage until his passing in 1971. Bessie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor.

Her surviving family includes two sons, Dale Barker and his wife, Belinda, and James A. “Jim” Barker, all of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Sandra K. Reed and her companion, Tom Phillips, of Uhrichsville; four grandchildren, Karla Bird and her husband, Bobby, of Millersburg, Carl Conner of Grafton, David Conner and his wife, Bobbi, of Baltic and Shella Kay Barker; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Michael, Chelsie and Devon; three great great grandchildren Brice, Braelyn and Keria with a fourth expected; a dear friend, Rachel Sanders; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Barker less than three months ago; seven brothers; and seven sisters.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4. A graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5. Those wishing to honor Bessie’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
