Barbara Ellen Tinney, 84, of Ripley, West Virginia, died of a broken heart on Sunday, September 29, 2024, after losing her son, Andrew L. “Randy” Tinney, just seven days earlier. Born January 17, 1940 in Ripley, she was a daughter of the late William Pringle and Effie (Stewart) Pringle Stutler.
A resident of West Virginia for much of her life, she had also lived in Tuscarawas County in Ohio for a number of years where she had been employed as a nurses’ aide at Hennis Care Centre in Dover. Her hobbies included crocheting, tending her flower gardens, collecting jewelry, and caring for her many animals – especially her favorite pig.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Eva) Tinney and Donna Ladale Tinney-Pershing; grandchildren, Nicole (Josh Haney) Tinney, Heather (Kyle) Calabro, Justin (Joni) Hanson, Erica (Rance) Weaver, and Taina (Forrest Sowards) Garbrandt; and great-grandchildren, Gage Greenwalt, Jeffery Richmond, Greg Barlow, Tim Barlow, Mason Barlow, Kennedy Calabro, Ayla Calabro, Tayelynn Garbrandt, Xander Knestaut, Thomas Weaver, Spencer Clark, Mylie Clark, Forrest Sowards Jr., Jostalyn Hunt, and Briona Hunt; and a great-great-granddaughter, Delaney Greenwalt. Barbara grew up with her 6 siblings, Gene Pringle, Blondina Pringle, James Pringle, Lee Stutler, Bill Stutler, and Carol Stutler.
Pastor Andy McClung will officiate a 3:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, October 26, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Her family will receive callers from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., prior to the service. A time of sharing memories and enjoying refreshments at Park Valley Events will immediately follow her service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
