Barbara Miles

Barbara Joy Miles, 48, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 4, 1962 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Margaret Evelyn “Peg” (Brown) Barrett.

Barb was a part of the Twin City community her entire life. She was a graduate of Claymont High School in the class of 1980 and attended the 1st Moravian Church in Uhrichsville. She was employed by Twin City Hospital for many years, first working in their cafeteria before fulfilling her dream of obtaining her medical billing certification through coursework at Buckeye Career Center, then working in Twin City Hospital’s billing department for seven years. She had also worked in the cafeteria and kitchen at Buckeye Career Center.

On May 21, 1983, Barb married David R. Miles who survives her at their home. She is also survived by a daughter, Margaret E. “Maggie” Ridgway and her husband, Adam P., of New Philadelphia; a son, Matthew D. Miles and his wife, Emily S., of Uhrichsville; three grandchildren, Ella and Lucy Ridgway and Troy Miles with another grandchild expected; brothers, Chuck Barrett and his wife, Rose, Robert Barrett II and his wife, Debbie, and Thomas Barrett and his wife, Dana, all of Dennison; a sister, Deborah Joyner and her husband, Douglas, of Westerville; her parents-in-law, Dave and Dorothy Miles of Uhrichsville; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Suzzi and Ben Allen of Maryland, Cynthia Johnson of Canton, and Dan and Jody Miles of Stillwater; and many nieces and nephews.

Barb was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and nana, in addition to her medical billing career. She especially treasured the time that she spent with her grandchildren, children, and husband. She also loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, geo-caching, and riding 4-wheelers with her husband.

Services for Barb, officiated by Rev. William E. Surber, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Those wishing to honor Barb’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospice, and Uhrichsville Moravian Church.
