Barbara Ann Mccullough

Barbara Ann McCullough, 90, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, after a period of declining health. Born July 31, 1930 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Helen Marie (Shively) Phillips.

A resident of Columbus since the early 50’s, Barbara had grown up in Tuscarawas County where she was a 1948 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. On November 29, 1952, she married James Kenneth McCullough with whom she looked forward to celebrating 68 years of marriage later this month. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their children, Jeff (Donna) McCullough, Daurice (Hans E.) Grossniklaus, and Kenneth McCullough; grandchildren, Mollie, Todd, Ann, Emily, William, Melissa, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Evan, Joseph “J.J.”, Owen, Luke, Bryce, Petra, and Bianca. She is also survived by her sister, Rosemary (Cleston) Beans; sister-in-law, Donna Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; youngest son, William McCullough; and brother, Joseph Phillips.

Barbara will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing, especially cross-stitch, and loved making decorations for Christmas, having made personalized Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren. She was Methodist by faith.

In the interest of public health, a private service is planned prior to her interment at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Greater Dover-New Philadelphia Food Pantry, P. O. Box 95, Dover, OH  44622, and the Uhrichsville Veteran Memorial with checks payable to Terry LeMonte, 210 E. 8 th St., Uhrichsville, OH  44683.
