Barbara L. Roberts

Barbara L. Roberts, 79, of Dennison, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia, after a lengthy illness. Born December 17, 1936 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Harry William and Gladys Arline (Polen) McCool.

After her graduation from Dennison High School in 1955, Barb married her high school sweetheart, Robert C. Roberts. On October 29, 2015, Barb and Bob, who survives her, celebrated 60 years of loving marriage. Barb is also survived by their three children, Kathy (Don) Ferguson, Linda (Paul) Davis and Timothy (Patty) Roberts; grandchildren, Bryan (Hallie) and Christopher (Kris) Ferguson, Christina (Josh) Yackey, Josh (Ashlee) Davis, and Keith, Dustin and Natasha Roberts; step-grandchildren, Paul, Kayla, Breeanne and Johnathon; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Pamela Roberts, Parker and Mason Davis, Maddox Ferguson, and Jordan and Bella Roberts. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Spencer Davis, as well as her parents.

Barb was a lifelong resident of the Twin City area and was a longtime member of Uhrichsville First United Methodist Church. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she worked as a teller at the former United Bank in Uhrichsville for a time. Barb was deeply committed to her community and served in many capacities over the years, including as the treasurer of the National Clay Week Committee for 35 years. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in their school and sports endeavors, and was very active with the Claymont Band Parents for many years. An accomplished musician, she played the saxophone with the Dominic Greco Band for a number of years and had played in the Claymont Alumni Band at age 70. She was also an excellent cook and avid gardener, as well as being a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Services for Barb, officiated by the Rev. Don Kraps, will be held at 11am, on Monday, April 11, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Barb’s family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hennis Care Centre, Union Hospital and Community Hospice House for the excellent care they provided to her. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Association.
