Barbara A. Busby, 94, of Canton, Ohio, peacefully departed this life on July 5, 2025, after a long and fulfilling journey. Born on April 1, 1931, in the small town of Bowerston, Ohio, Barbara was a beloved daughter of Ralph and Mable Bower.
Throughout her life, Barb's unwavering spirit and dedication shone brightly. She and her future husband met and fell in love at Bowerston High School where she was a cheerleader and he was a three sport athlete – having played football, basketball, and baseball. She later attended college, raised a family and had a long career in Human Resources, proudly serving in the retail industry at JC Penney, where she retired after 29 years.
A devoted member of the Eastern Star and an enthusiastic participant in several card clubs, Barbara relished the camaraderie and joy of gathering with friends. She will forever be remembered for her laughter, wisdom, and the countless moments she created with those she loved.
Barb's greatest joy came from her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mable Bower; husband, Arthur "Buzz" Busby, who passed away in 2014 after a wonderful 63 years of marriage; son, Barry Busby; and sister, Beverly P. Chastain. Barb is survived by her sons, Bradley Busby, Brady (Christine) Busby, and Brock Busby; daughter-in-law, Debbie Busby; brother, Brian (Sue) Bower; grandchildren, Laura (Wil), Jared (Karah), Audrey (Todd), Allison, Clayton (Ashten), Conner, and Carter; and great-grandchildren, Jase, Joslynn, Kooper, Zane, and Tate.
Calling hours will be at Reed Funeral Home in Canton, Ohio on August 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. where family and friends can gather to celebrate Barbara's life and share memories. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. for all to come together to honor her legacy.
According to Barb’s wishes, she has been cremated and will be interred with her beloved husband in Longview Cemetery in Bowerston following a private, family graveside service. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the beauty of her journey and the love she so freely gave. Barbara A. Busby will be missed deeply, but her memory and influence will linger on in all of us.
