Barbara A. Bollon

Barbara Ann Bollon, 57, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born November 13, 1959 in Dover, she was the daughter of Tommy Dale and Sandra Sue (Sandry) Huff of New Philadelphia.

Barb was a lifelong Twin City resident and member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a 1978 graduate of Claymont High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1982 and, later, her Master’s degree from Ashland University. She was a devoted teacher for 32 years until her retirement in 2014. She had spent 17 years at New Philadelphia Public Schools followed by 15 years teaching the R.E.A.C.H. Program at Claymont City Schools. Her students and colleagues were her second family, and her lifelong passion for educating and love for Claymont will be remembered by many. She was active in the Claymont Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

On December 22, 1990, she married Joseph Michael Bollon who survives her along with her parents; daughters, Lauren (Derrick) Castello and Aleigh (companion, Evan Davis) Bollon; stepsons, Christopher (Natalie) Bollon and Dustin (Natalie) Bollon; grandchildren, Blake, Jacob, Noah, Anthony, Brynn, Haidyn, Maisyn and Braylee; brother, Christopher (Carolyn) Huff; niece and nephew, Madeline and Sam Huff; father-in-law, Fred Bollon; and a host of dear friends. She will also be missed by her Yorkies, Gia and Frankie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shari Huff; mother-in-law, Dolores Bollon; and, recently, her dear canine companion, Jaxson.

Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. In keeping with Barb’s wishes, no public visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice and the Barb Bollon Scholarship Fund at any branch of the First National Bank of Dennison which was established to continue her legacy of support for Claymont students.
