Arnold Albert Morris, 74, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born July 28, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Donald Lee Morris and Nora Frances (House) Morris-Raymer.
Arnold grew up in Adena, Ohio where he spent much of his life and was a 1971 graduate of Adena High School. He had a long career as a miner with Y & O Coal before relocating to Dennison in the early 2000’s.
Arnold was a man of many things. Along side of being a great husband, father and grandpap, he especially enjoyed the game of golf. If you didn’t catch him watching a ball game, you could normally find him at the golf course where he began working shortly after his retirement. Aside from golf, Arnold enjoyed coaching his sons for the Jewett Dodgers baseball team who went 17-0 one season – he never let that go! He also enjoyed coaching his granddaughters in softball, his grandson in basketball, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy – all of their friends knew him as “Pap”.
Besides being a great father and granddad, Arnold couldn’t live a day without his wife, the former Barbara J. Carothers. Married on November 25, 1972, Arnold and Barb were looking forward to celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary soon. They enjoyed going on vacations, playing golf, watching ball games and visiting the Wheeling Island Casino together. Arnold will forever be known for his magic tricks and storytelling.
He will be missed by many, but most of all by his beloved wife, Barb; son, Chad (companion, Meredith) Morris; grandchildren, Kylie (Patrick) Hurst, Sadee (companion, Cole Kinsey) Morris, Savanna Morris, Trenton Morris, Tyler Skipper, Shelby Herron, and Jarett Warrington; great-grandchildren, Ezzy, Easton, Owen, Emry, Kruz, Ava, Livi, and Kamri; brother, Dennis Morris; and a number of nieces and nephews. Arnold tragically lost his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jill Morris in June, and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Dent and Barbara Ann McCoy; brothers, Tom Morris, Marvin Morris, and Kevin Morris; and his parents, Donald and Nora.
Arnold’s family will receive callers on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, prior to a 1:00 p.m. funeral, officiated by Pastor Mike Travis. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Arnold’s memory may be made to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
