Antonette J. "Donna" Ross

Antonette J. “Donna” Ross, 95, of Uhrichsville, formerly of Dennison, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville. Born June 13, 1919 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Splendora (Tavorini) Romano. The last of her family’s generation, she was also preceded in death by her sisters: Margaret DiGuilliano, Lucy Palandrani, and Edith Mitchitell.

Donna was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where she was active for many years in the Altar Society and the St. Mary’s Home and School Association. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends in her card clubs, had a passion for crossword puzzles, and loved watching sports on television, as well as attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also delighted in sharing her famous recipes, especially enjoying being able to pass down her traditions to her granddaughters.

On December 31, 1936, Donna married Peter Ross with whom she enjoyed nearly 44 years of marriage until his passing on October 29, 1980. They were blessed with 4 sons, David (fiancée, Jayne Kohler) Ross of Strasburg, and Jerome, Joseph and Raymond Ross who preceded her in death. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Ross of Uhrichsville; grandchildren: Mary (Monty) O’Hara, Joanne (Scott) Milburn, Angela (Nick) Rotella, Ramona (Rodney) Givens, and Tanja (Mike) Agriesti; Brian and Kelly Kohler; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; many dear nieces and nephews, including Mark Mitchitell and Marlene Ridgway who were very devoted to Donna; a special cousin, Clara Casini; a dear friend, Brenda Luyster; and many special caregivers at Beacon Pointe and Community Hospice. In addition to her husband, parents, sisters, and three sons, she was also preceded in death by grandsons, Tim Ross and Clay Kohler, and other extended family members.

Services for Donna, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with a Christian Wake Service held at 7:45 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception Elementary, and Community Hospice.
