Anthony Michael Moyer, 83, of Uhrichsville, passed away at his home on January 4, 2023. Born in Danville, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1939, he was the youngest, and last surviving child of the late Grover Cleveland and Cleo (Starks) Moyer, having been preceded in death by eight siblings.
Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, enlisting first in 1958 and reenlisting in 1965. He enjoyed a long career as an engineer and retired from Louisiana Pacific after many years of employment. He spent much of his life as a resident of Harrison County, but had also lived in Florida and North Carolina for a time before returning to reside in Uhrichsville about 20 years ago. Locally, he was a member of the Dennison Eagles and the Uhrichsville Moose. He enjoyed bowling – especially with his wife before her passing – and was a golfer as well. In the 70's and 80's Tony (I.P.) and his wife Norma Jean (Gypsy Jean) enjoyed spending time on CB radio. His family will always remember his love for every kind of gadget imaginable and his grandchildren will especially remember his incredible popcorn-making skills ("PCP-PCP!")
On August 2, 1963, Tony married Norma Jean (Kramer) Moyer with whom he enjoyed nearly 44 years of marriage until her passing on April 26, 2006. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes Norma's children Clarence “Butch” (wife, Kay) Taylor; Sheila (husband, John, deceased) Magistro, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Tony was preceded in death by Norma's children, Robert “Bobby” Taylor and Karla “Cookie” Cohen, as well as grandson, Clarence "BJ." Eugene Taylor Jr. and great-granddaughter, Tara Lynn Iacono.
In keeping with Tony’s wishes, he was cremated without a public visitation. He and his beloved wife, Norma, will be interred in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273, on Friday April 26, 2024 with a 2:15 p.m. military committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
