Anthony Joseph “Butch” Petrarca, 74, of Strasburg, formerly of Dennison, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. Born August 9, 1941, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (DeTorio) Petrarca. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Gallagher) Petrarca; second wife, Patricia (Selzer) Petrarca; and half-siblings, James and Charles Presutti, Alice Baker, Louise Pangrazio, and Virginia Aldergate.
Tony was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, a 1959 graduate of Dennison High School, and a retiree of Arizona Chemical in Dover where he had worked for 22 years. He was also a former member of the board of directors for Harcatus, as well as a past president of the former Twin City Hospital board.
His surviving family includes daughters, Natalie M. (D. Timothy) Watson of Bolivar, Michelle A. “Tonie” (David) Wenger of Frederick, Colorado, and Heather D. (Tyler) Saunders of Lyons, Colorado; grandchildren, Caleb and Aaron Watson and Cody and Wyatt Saunders; sister, Rose Kurtsner of Uhrichsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony’s family wish to express their deep appreciation for the wonderful care that he received while residing at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar.
In keeping with Tony’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. Private family services are planned with interment at Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
