Anthony John Ezzi, 89, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Uhrichsville, Ohio, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Worthington Christian Village after a period of declining health. Born December 19, 1922 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Sebastiano “Samuel” and Mary (Palastina) Ezzi.
A resident of Columbus for the past twelve years, Tony was previously a lifelong resident of the Twin City area. He was a graduate of Dennison High School prior to serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and is a former member of Dennison First Presbyterian Church.
On December 19, 1949, he married Marjorie June “Margie” (Arnold) Ezzi with whom he enjoyed over fifty-one years of marriage until her passing on May 18, 2000. They are survived by a son, Timothy A. Ezzi and his wife, Sue, of Columbus; grandchildren, Kristina, Anthony and Alayna Ezzi of Columbus; and a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Ezzi; sister, Audrey G. Rotondo; and brothers, Joseph J., Santo A. and Albert Ezzi.
A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25 in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where he will be interred beside his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tony’s memory are encouraged to do so by a contribution to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or the charity of their choice.
