Annette Cottrell, 54, of Uhrichsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia. Her journey in life began October 6, 1959, being born into the hearts and home of George D. Cottrell, Sr. and Marjorie M. (Garabrandt) Cottrell.
  
  
  She was a 1978 graduate of Claymont High School. Annette was blessed with the gift and love of music at a very young age, singing her first solo at the Dennison Grant Street United Methodist Church at the age of three. In high school, Annette was very active in the Girls’ Chorus, Ensembles, Mixed and Swing Choir, and performed in many high school musicals, playing roles in Snoopy, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Winnie Winslow and No No Nanette. Annette was also very active in the Ohio High School Music Association, winning one excellent and three superior medals in State Vocal Music contests. While still in high school, Annette was chosen as a member of the Ohio State Youth choir. In 1977 and in 1978, she was chosen to be in the Ohio State Fair and European Youth Touring Choir, touring 9 different countries: Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. While in London, the choir gave a command performance for the Queen of England. Annette sang in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
  
  
  Annette was given the honor in recent years of singing for the American Legions Annual Memorial Day Program. She performed in the Deersville Players in the roles of Annie Warbucks, Dr. Margaret Willoughby and Gladys. Annette attended the Dennison First Church of God for 36 years where she served as Sunday school teacher for 35 years. Although the Lord did not bless her with her own children, He blessed her with being able to love and teach many generations of children that attended the Church of God. She also served as Church Secretary, on the Hospitality and Benevolence Committees, in Children’s Church and as director of the children’s Bell Choir. She enjoyed working on and placing “Seed Thoughts” on the bulletin board at her church. Annette was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
  
  
  Annette leaves her loving family: sister, Sevilla Pankuch of Dennison; nieces, Sara Pankuch and Jennifer (Donnie) Pallaye; nephews, George (Mandy) Cottrell, III and Lucas (Amber) Cottrell; great nieces and nephews, Hunter, Ian, Dominic, Ambrosia, Carter and Kobin; a sister-in-law, Lora (Ted) Morrow; an aunt, Flora Polton; and her canine companion, Zippy. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George Jr. and Thomas Cottrell.
  
  
  Services will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 9, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11am to 1pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her family, in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, Inc., 26 Grant St., Dennison, OH 44621-1269, to help defray the cost of her final expenses.
