Anne Mary Mears, 92, of Dennison, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born in Kimbolton, Ohio on November 3, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Maria (Jakubisin) Ruscin. Anne attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated in 1942. She worked as a secretary for the State of Ohio for 10 years, and as a bookkeeper for Superior Clay Pipe for 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Ruscin, Mary Denabow, Joe Ruscin, George Ruscin, Agnes Bosela, Vera Lokie, Elizabeth Carr, Joe Walsh and Vera Reichmann; and her beloved husband, Howard Mears, whom she married in 1952, enjoying 42 years of marriage before his death in 1994.
Anne served her Lord in many ways, as president of the Altar Society, by teaching CCD classes, presiding over Church Council, and as president of Deanery, the CCW and Bishop’s Pastoral Council. She also received the Bishop’s Award of Excellence, Catholic Woman of the Year Chair, and was a member of the adult choir for many years.
She will be sadly missed by her family: Mary Ruscin, Elizabeth “BJ” (Steve) Brandon, Tess (Len) Simonetti, Maggie Moreland, John (Suzi) Ruscin, Carmen (Randy) Fawcett, Gi (Mike) Heddleston, Di Rogers, Col. Michael Carr, Ret., Pat (Philip) Morgan, Shane (Kathy) Carr; and many nephews and nieces.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Thursday, June 8, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. In keeping with Anne’s wishes, no public visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund.
