Anna E. Smith

Anna E. Smith, 84, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in Bowerston Pointe, following a period of declining health.

Born February 10, 1924 in Barnhill, O., she was a daughter of the late John L. Beamer and Lizzie A. (Garbrandt) Beamer Brown.

Anna was a lifelong resident of the area who enjoyed being active in the Uhrichsville Moose’s, Dennison Eagles’ and Midvale V.F.W.’s Ladies’ Auxiliaries.

She was a loving mother to her daughters, Mrs. Richard (Cookie) Goodwin of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Redell (Penny) Brindley of Uhrichsville, Mrs. Ed (Anna) Napier of Dennison, Charlene Johnson of Uhrichsville and Diana Weber who preceded her in death. She is also survived by a dear friend who was like a daughter to her, Joni St. Pierre of New Philadelphia. Fourteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, with three more expected, complete the family.

Anna is survived by two sisters, Ida Booth of Sherrodsville and Mina Burdette of Tippecanoe, and many nieces and nephews, as well.

In addition to her parents and daughter, Diana, Anna was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a great great grandchild, four brothers and four sisters.

Services for Anna, officiated by Rev. Jim Huston, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Those wishing to honor Anna’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
