Anna Sensius, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born March 8, 1927 in Sotin, Yugoslavia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Michels, Sr. and Juliana (Lavfer) Michels.
A Twin City resident since the early 50s, Anna was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Society. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be fondly remembered for her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her traditional German specialties. She was also a cat lover who had many dear feline companions over the years.
In June of 1946, Anna wed John Sensius with whom she enjoyed over 44 years of marriage until his passing on August 9, 1990. She is survived by her son, Jay Sensius; grandson, Brian Sensius; and a number of extended family members including a sister-in-law, Katie Michels, and nephews, Bob (Patty) Michels and Steve (Becky) Michels, as well as more in-laws, nieces and nephews in the Akron area. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Josephine “Josie” Sensius.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 11, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 5-8pm on Tuesday with a 7:45pm Christian Wake Service. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Community Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
