Anna Marie Abel, 99, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born September 16, 1922 in Dennison, she was the last surviving child of the late David Jediah Maxwell, Sr. and Bertha C. (Isenberg) Maxwell, having been preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Maxwell, Thelma Barth, and David “Jake” (Phyllis) Maxwell.
Anna Marie was a 1940 graduate of Dennison High School before attending Bliss College in Columbus. She used her business school training in her employment with Lincoln Mercury Distributors in Canton and W. H. Patterson Real Estate in Uhrichsville. Later in life, she was employed by Fab Ohio in Uhrichsville, and finally at Twin City Hospital in Dennison where she worked for 14 years before retiring. Above all else, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and homemaker who loved caring for her family and home, cleaning, and sewing. She was protestant by faith.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her daughter, Diane (Brian) Edgar; son, Mike Abel; grandchildren, Emily Edgar, Jeffrey Abel, and William (Kari) Abel; and great-grandchildren, Corey and Taylor Golec, and Hadley, Piper, and Hudson Abel. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Tuffy” Abel; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Abel; and granddaughter, Jody Golec.
Rev. Mark Unrue will officiate a 1:00 p.m. graveside service on Wednesday, December 22, at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
