Alma M. Hilliker

November 23, 1934 — April 3, 2010

Alma M. Hilliker, age 75, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a lengthy illness.

Alma was born in Uhrichsville on November 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Jacob Vincent and Bertha Olivia (Hutchins) Watson.

A resident of Uhrichsville throughout her life, Alma was a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1952 before completing a course of study at Canton Business College and a member of the First Christian Church of Uhrichsville.

Alma married her high school sweetheart, Bill, in 1952. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on July 12. She was a homemaker, wife, and mother her entire life and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. You could ask Alma about her family at any time, and she was always prepared to tell a funny grandchild-related story or share a recent accomplishment.

Alma enjoyed her card clubs, watching her Cleveland sports teams, and chatting with her many internet friends from all over the country. When her children were younger, Alma was a Brownie leader, an active member of the Eastport Avenue P.T.A., and a devoted member of the Claymont Band Boosters.

Alma is survived by her beloved husband, William A. “Bill” Hilliker, and her four daughters, Cheryn (Michael) Ledford of Florida, Barbara (Ray) Askea of Texas, Stacey (Robert) Craig of Georgia, and Jolene (David) Page of Uhrichsville. Alma was one of three girls and is survived by both of her sisters, Betty (Harley) Vann of Florida and Barbara Bowman of New Mexico. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Les Bowman.

Services for Alma, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
