Alice F. Ickes

November 12, 1946 — September 12, 2025

Uhrichsville, Ohio

Alice Faye Ickes, 78, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, was called to the more immediate presence of God on Friday, September 12, 2025, from Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Schoenbrunn in New Philadelphia, Ohio, after a period of declining health. Born November 12, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Elmer and Hazel Wright. She was a lifelong Twin City resident and a 1964 graduate of Uhrichsville High School.

On June 2, 1968, Alice married the Rev. Dale Richard Ickes who survives her at their home. Together, they were blessed with 57 years of loving marriage and ministry together. Alice was a gifted musician who grew up singing with her sisters, having recorded as the Wright Sisters. She was also a talented pianist who spent many years playing at the Cathedral of Praise in Uhrichsville where her husband was the pastor. They were well known for their beautiful singing and praise ministry, including a radio program.

Alice was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who excelled at all of the domestic arts. Her family will long remember the wonderful Sunday suppers at her home after church, and no one ever went away hungry who came to her table – be it family or friends. Her homemade baked goods were always a delight. She was also an exceptional seamstress who made countless prom and wedding dresses, and she loved crocheting elaborate creations. Above all, she will be remembered for her deep and abiding faith and kindness.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by their children, Dale R. (Lisa) Ickes II, Roy (Brenda) Ickes, and Darla (companion, Gary Greathouse) Ickes; her precious grandchildren whom she loved to babysit, Alexandra, Samantha, Brenton, Hunter, Adrionna, and Chad; great-grandchildren who were a delight to her, Cooper, Gracelyn, Oakleigh, and Braidyn; her dear sisters, Juanita Sanders, Deloris (Doyle) Abbuhl, and Naomi Losh; and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor John Stevenson will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Wednesday, September 17, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. Charitable contributions honoring her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 408 9th St. S.W., Ste. 3400, Canton, OH 44707, and Autism Speaks, Donations Processing Center Autism Speaks, P.O.
