Albert "Dan" Armstrong

March 9, 1943 — May 11, 2026

Uhrichsville, Ohio

Albert “Dan” Armstrong, 83, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 11, 2026, following a lengthy period of declining health.

Born at home on March 9, 1943, in Newport near Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Maurice Armstrong Sr. and Margaret Marie (Harshey) Armstrong.

Dan was a lifelong resident of Uhrichsville and a proud 1961 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. As a Boy Scout, he was especially proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a devoted member of Newport United Methodist Church from his youth onward.

Dan and his brother Randy have co-owned and operated R&D Contractors for 50 years. The brothers also owned and operated their farm, Dandy Eggs, also known as Dutch Valley Farms.

In his spare time, Dan enjoyed golfing and watching the Cleveland Guardians games, but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family — especially his beloved grandchildren. He treasured attending their school and extracurricular activities and teaching them to garden and golf.

He was dedicated to tending his annual garden and teaching his grandkids how to plant in proper straight rows. He took great pride in raising a plentiful crop of vegetables — especially his well-known zucchinis — which he generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors.

On June 23, 1963, Dan married the former Joy Darlene Langdon, with whom he shared 62 years of devoted and loving marriage. She survives him, along with their daughter, Amy Armstrong (companion Karl Grandison) of Uhrichsville and their son Albert “Dan” Armstrong II (Rosalee) of Dover; grandchildren, Emma Armstrong, Hunter Hodkinson, Lillie Armstrong, and Albert “Danny” Armstrong III; sisters, Alma “Bunnie” Freeland and Kathy Schupp; brother Randy Armstrong (Loretta); brothers- and sisters-in-law, Donald Jackson, Bill Blackwell, Bill and Beverly Langdon, Melody Kerns, Mike Thomas, Debbie and John VanFossen, and Holly and Dave Dazey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Maurice “Bill” Armstrong Jr.; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Jackson; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Betty Armstrong, Robert Freeland, Richard Schupp, Bonnie Blackwell, Robert and Wilma Langdon, Betty Langdon, Donna and Tom Carpenter, and Linda Thomas.

Dan’s longtime friend and former pastor, Rev. Joel Adkins, will officiate an 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, May 16, at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, Ohio. Burial will follow at Newport Cemetery in Uhrichsville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dan’s memory to Newport Methodist Church, P.O. Box 404, Uhrichsville, OH 44683. A meal and fellowship will follow the services.
