Albert Eugene Corra, 87, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Born October 11, 1924 in Uhrichsville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Samuel Jim and Mary (Brida) Corra.

Al grew up in the Twin City area where he was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church and attended St. Mary’s High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning home from the service, he began his career in the local clay industry, having worked for several area clay plants including Universal. He also worked for the state of Ohio for a number of years. A lifelong Catholic, he had most recently attended St. Joseph’s Church in Dover.

On June 6, 1970, Al married the former Mary Jane Petty with whom he enjoyed forty years of marriage until her passing on July 27, 2010. His surviving family includes three siblings, Robert L. Corra of Port Washington, and James Corra and his wife, Mel, and Anna Corra of Wintersville, Ohio; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Betty Lou and George Deibel of New Philadelphia, Joan Unger of Coshocton, and Ed and Janet Petty and Bill Petty, all of Traverse City, Michigan; a stepdaughter, Jane Maxwell of Dennison; grandchildren, Jack Maxwell, Jim Maxwell and his wife, Tammie, and Lori Henry, all of Dennison, and Scott Kinsey and John Kinsey of New Philadelphia; great grandchildren, Cory and Alivia Maxwell and Kyle and Max Henry of Dennison, and Stepheni Kinsey of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Al was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Myers and Deloris Grandison; sister-in-law, Dorothy Corra; stepson, Bob Kinsey; stepson-in-law, John Maxwell; and granddaughter, Marilee Maxwell-Day.

Services for Al, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, in Immaculate Conception Church at Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Calling hours will begin with a Christian Wake Service held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison, and family and friends are invited to call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
