Agnes V. Ridgway

Agnes V. Ridgway, 91, of Uhrichsville, O., died on Friday, January 29, 2010 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, following a period of declining health.

Born February 20, 1918 in New Philadelphia, O., she was a daughter of the late Allen and Alta (Lorenz) Parker.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and homemaker, Agnes had worked for several area businesses over the years, including the Brown Derby and Dennison Eagles, and at Pangrazio’s where she enjoyed working until the age of 85 when her health prevented her from continuing. A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, she attended New Philadelphia High School and was a member of the Dennison Eagles Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Twin Cities’ V.F.W. Ladies’ Auxiliary.

On April 16, 1949, Agnes married Gene Ridgway who preceded her in death on August 9, 1977. They are survived by a son, Rick Ridgway and his wife, Marlene, of Dennison; daughters, Mrs. John C. (Debbie) Meyer of Uhrichsville and Beverly Hoover of New Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three stepdaughters: Mrs. William (Kay) Lehmiller, Mrs. Thomas (Billie) Smith and Mrs. Ronald (Nelda Jean) Young; two sisters, Betty Grandison of Uhrichsville and Kathleen Baker of Dennison; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Parker; a sister, Alice Parker; and an infant sister, Eileen Parker, as well as her parents and husband.

Services for Agnes, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow in Gnadenhutten’s Clay-Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Those wishing to honor Agnes’ memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Twin City Hospital Foundation, 819 N. 1st St., Dennison, OH 44621.
