Mary Margaret Warner, 85, of Strasburg, formerly a longtime resident of Bowerston, passed away at New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, after a brief illness. Born May 20, 1929 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Helen Margaret (Wright) Chew.
Mary Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who had also been the head librarian for Bowerston Public Library for a number of years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowerston where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Quilters.
On June 23, 1946, she married Kenneth Eugene Warner with whom she enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage until his passing on May 31, 2009. They are survived by 3 children: Gene Warner and Sondra Ring of the home and Bob (Sherry) Warner of Colfax, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren: Colin (Ashley) Ring of East Sparta, Keira (Todd) Beckley of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Kelly, Sarah, Erin and Abby Warner of North Carolina; and 3 great-grandchildren: Cole and Avery Beckley and Jaxon Ring. Mary Margaret is also survived by 3 siblings: Ann Lane of Uhrichsville, Donna Lightell of Georgia and Dan (Barb) Chew of Bowerston, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Chew, and son-in-law, Gilbert Ring.
Services for Mary Margaret, officiated by Pastor Tom Dawson, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Conotton Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church and Community Hospice.
