Jennie Hannah Mclandsborough

Jennie Hannah McLandsborough, 96, of Bowerston, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Bowerston Hills in Carroll County after a period of declining health. Born October 13, 1917 in Bowerston, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Jennie M. (Hart) Monigold.

A lifelong resident of the Bowerston area, Jennie was a graduate of Bowerston High School in the class of 1935. She was a longtime member of Bowerston First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the Quilting Ladies. She was also a member of the Conotton Valley Senior Citizens and a former member of the Garden Club. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Jennie had worked for many years at the Dover L&K as a cook until her retirement in 1980, as well.

On July 1, 1937, she married John McLandsborough with whom she enjoyed over 57 years of marriage until his passing on October 18, 1994. They are survived by a daughter, Eileen (Robert) McClain of Bowerston; a son, Jerry (Janet Hanlon) McLandsborough; daughters-in-law, Karen Schaffer and Pat McLandsborough; 13 grandchildren, Courtney, John D., Jenny Jo and David McLandsborough, Tina K. Warner, Genia Barton, Lee Ann Buckey, Michael R. McClain, Joseph D. and Julie McLandsborough, Rebecca Richards, and Kristin L. and William R. McLandsborough; 27 great-grandchildren with another expected; many great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, John E. and Joseph D. McLandsborough, and a brother, George B. Monigold.

Services for Jennie, officiated by Pastor Tom Dawson, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Bowerston First United Methodist Church.
